JAMARAQUÁ COMMUNITY
ONE OF THE MOST INTERESTING COMMUNITIES IN THE TAPAJÓS NATIONAL FOREST, LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 2.5 HOURS BY BOAT FROM ALTER DO CHÃO, UPSTREAM ON THE TAPAJÓS RIVER.
This is one of the region's favorite destinations, thanks to well-organized community-based tourism, with experienced local guides.
The main attraction is the Samaúma trail, an intense route through the forest, its effort proportionally rewarded with the visit of exuberantly large Samaúma trees, as well as a refreshing swim in a stream with absolutely crystal clear waters, to receive the energy of the forest.
JAMARAQUÁ HAS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL STREAMS IN THE REGION
Another gem is the beautiful stream near the Tapajós River, ideal for night canoeing. For the more adventurous ones, it is possible to organize overnight stays in the forest.
THE COMMUNITY HAS FOUND A NEW WAY TO EXPLORE LATEX: BIOJEWELRY
The community has a diverse crafts shop focusing on biojewelry, made mainly with latex and seeds.
For those who want to stay, Jamaraquá offers a communitarian house of hammocks, as well as simple lodges.
