COROCA COMMUNITY
COROCA IS A COMMUNITY BY THE ARAPIUNS RIVER, IN FRONT OF THE FAMOUS BEACHES OF CARACARAÍ AND PONTA GRANDE, AND GATHERS 50 FAMILIES, WITH 150 PEOPLE.
Coroca's fame lies in the tasty typical recipes served at the restaurant "Pés na Areia" (Feet in the Sand), which prides itself on preparing one of the best tambaquis, a local fish, in the region.
Its main attraction is the breeding center of Amazon turtles, in partnership with Ibama. On the guided tour, travelers can visit the nursery and the lake where the species reproduce. It is a key initiative towards removing turtles from the list of endangered species and guaranteeing the subsistence of riverside communities and the entire natural chain. A tour that brings a smile to travelers of any age.
A COMMUNITY ORGANIZED AROUND MANY TYPES OF WORK
The community also raises stingless bees and produces delicious Coroca honey, as well as several other derivative products that are sold in the beautiful crafts shop.
ARIPÓ GALLERY
The Aripó Gallery brings together a wide variety of items produced by artisans from across the region and is certainly one of the best places to buy baskets and other straw crafts.
For a leisurely time, you can spend the night in the communitarian hammock house, or choose among other private accommodation options.
